Dr. Neni Sintawardhani
Dr. Neni Sintawardani is a Senior Researcher at the Research Center for Environmental and Clean Technology, part of Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).
With a career spanning over 35 years, she has become a prominent figure in community sanitation and wastewater treatment innovation.Her pioneering work in anaerobic processes for municipal and on-site sanitation has led to impactful developments, including the composting toilet value chain.
Dr. Neni earned her Ph.D. from the University of Hohenheim, Germany, and received the esteemed Underwriters Laboratories-ASEAN-U.S. Science Prize for Women in 2021, recognizing her contributions to sustainable waste management.Beyond her technical expertise, Dr. Neni is a fervent advocate for gender equality in STEM and dedicates herself to mentoring aspiring environmental scientists.
Her leadership and groundbreaking research continue to propel FSM-Aman’s vision for a more sustainable and equitable future in waste management across Indonesia.
